Record videos in the editor
Use Record yourself to record a video inside Canva and add it to your design. Your recording saves to Uploads and is added to your design as an editable video element.
Note: Recording features are currently unavailable in India. VPN circumvention of geographic-based limits is not permitted under the Terms of Use.

Before you start
- This feature won’t be available when using print design templates like posters, invitations, or brochures.
- If you’re designing on a partner website via the Canva Button,, videos won’t be available.
- For now, this is only available on Google Chrome and Safari browsers.
Record videos in the editor
The Record yourself feature lets you record webcam video, your screen, or both directly inside the Canva editor. Recordings are automatically saved to your Uploads tab and added to your design as editable video elements.
You can use this feature across any design type, including presentations, to add talking-head commentary or walkthroughs to specific slides.
Record videos in the editor
For now, this is only available on Google Chrome and Safari browsers.
- Open the Uploads tab.
- Select Record yourself, then choose Record a talking head.
- Set up your camera and microphone in the pop-up that’ll appear. Make sure to allow your browser to access your device's camera and microphone when asked.
- Set up how you want to record.
- Camera if you want to record only a video of yourself.
- Camera & Screen to record a video of yourself and your whole presentation.
- Screen if you only want to record a voiceover of your presentation.
- Select Record.
- Select Done once you are finished recording. You can also Pause or Delete your recording as needed.
- Select Save and exit to save your video and to add it to the current page of your design.
You can also find your video recording from the Videos tab under Uploads.
Recording Options Available
When you open the recording studio from the Uploads tab, you can choose from three recording modes:
- Camera (Talking head): Records only your webcam. Perfect for adding a personal video message or presenter commentary bubble directly onto your slide.
- Camera and Screen: Records both your screen and your camera bubble simultaneously. Great for software demos and presentation walkthroughs.
- Screen only: Records your active screen, window, or browser tab without camera footage.
